Check out their great use of a live Earth-cam stream alongside tide monitoring in to communicate real-time beach conditions to the public via their website

Earth cam Water Level and Tide

Their public-access dashboard is connected up to dataloggers measuring tide movements in real-time and demonstrating predicted levels based on their data.  The slight variation in predicted vs actual tide hights is interesting.
